Dear Beloved Partners,

 

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus!  Time has flown by, and it was a blessing and honor to fellowship with you all during the summer. We had a packed schedule, but were blessed to see all of you in CO & CA. Thank you for your overwhelming love & support!

It has already been over 2 months since we came back.  Aquila started preaching at the rehab. center again and continues to go biweekly to Taipei to preach. The pastor is delighted to have Aquila speak biweekly and asked Prisca to help the youth with an English Bible Study. Please pray for Prisca & the youth.(mainly the pastor’s daughters and a few kids)

Taiwan is steeped in superstitions and fear.  Ghost Month just passed and offerings were made to one’s deceased ancestors.  They offer chips, ramen, cookies, fruit, and all sorts of junk food as they burn paper money and incense. During Ghost Month you should not do the following:

   Don't go swimming / Don’t go buy a house or car

   Don't get married / Don’t walk near walls at night

   Don't whistle at night / Don’t dry clothes at night

   Don't take photos at night 

   Don’t stay in the mountains past dark

Please pray that the good news of the GOSPEL will transform this country to worship the King of Kings and LORD of LORDS and fear Him only!

            We thank God for His goodness to our family.  All four boys have grown up and Simeon will graduate in May 2026 and will either take a gap year or go straight to college.

            Prisca was feeling overwhelmed with driving over 800 km a week to teach at the MK school & also the drive bi-weekly to Taipei.(another 600km) The LORD impressed upon her Nehemiah 8:10, “…the joy of the LORD is your strength.” She immediately worshiped the LORD & denounced the lie & sang truth! What have you been relying on for strength?

 

Prayer Requests:

1. Idolatry, “darkness”, and ancestor worship would   be replaced with the Bible, worship, prayer, and the   

power of the Gospel.

2. Prisca to love the students and have all of them   

come to love & worship Jesus.

3. Please continue to pray for Aquila’s preaching at the rehab. center, S Church, and serving college students in the English corner.

4. Please pray for direction and wisdom for Simeon as  he graduates in May.

5. Please continue to pray for the newlyweds(Josiah&Maliah) as they finish college, look for jobs, and live life together for God’s glory.

6. Immanuel in NM & Silas in IL to excel at work do everything for His glory!

주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 문안드립니다!

시간이 참 빠르게 흘러갔습니다. 저희의 여름 방문에 여러분 모두와 교제할 수 있었던 것은 큰 축복이자 영광이었습니다. 빡빡한 일정 속에서도 콜로라도와 캘리포니아에서 여러분 모두를 만나게 되어 감사했습니다. 넘치는 사랑과 후원에 진심으로 감사드립니다!

현지에 돌아온 지 벌써 두 달이 넘었습니다.  아굴라가 재활센터에서 다시 설교를 시작했으며, 계속해서 격주로 타이베이에 가서 설교하고 있습니다. 담임목사님은 아굴라가 격주로 설교하는 것을 매우 기뻐하며, 브리스길라에게 청소년들을 위한 영어 성경공부를 도와달라고 요청했습니다. 브리스길라와 청소년들(주로 목사님 딸들과 몇몇 아이들)을 위해 기도 부탁합니다.

 

대만은 미신과 두려움에 깊이 잠겨 있습니다. 방금 지났던 귀신 달에는 돌아가신 조상들에게 제물을 바쳤습니다.  과자, 라면, 쿠키, 과일 등 각종 간식을 바치며 지폐와 향을 태웁니다. 귀신 달에는 다음을 해서는 안 됩니다:  수영하지 마라 / 집이나 차를 사지 마라 결혼하지 마라 / 밤에 벽 근처를 걷지 마라    밤에 휘파람을 불지 마라 / 밤에 빨래를 말리지 마라   밤에 사진을 찍지 마라 / 해가 진 후 산에 머무르지 말라

 

복음의 좋은 소식이 이 나라를 변화시켜 만왕의 왕이시며 만주의 주님이신 하나님만을 경배하게 하소서!

 하나님께서 저희 가족에게 베푸신 은혜에 감사드립니다. 네 아들 모두 잘 성장했고 막내 주민이는 내년 5월에 고등학교를 졸업하고 가을부터 갭 이어를 하거나 바로 대학에 진학할 예정입니다.

 

브리스길라는 매주 800km 이상 운전하며 MK 학교에서 가르치고 격주로 타이베이까지(추가 600km) 운전하는 일에 부담감이 있었습니다. 그런데 주님께서 느헤미야 8:10 말씀을 그녀에게 생각나게 했습니다. “...주님의 기쁨이 너희의 힘이라.” 브리스갈라는 즉시 주님을 경배하며 거짓을 물리치고 진리로 찬양했습니다! 여러분은 무엇을 힘의 근원으로 의지하고 계십니까?

 

기도 제목:

1. 우상 숭배, “어둠”, 조상 숭배가 성경, 예배, 기도, 복음의 능력으로 대체되도록.

2. 브리스길라가 학생들을 사랑하고 그들 모두가 예수님을 사랑하고 경배하게 되도록.

3. 아굴라가 재활 센터, S 교회에서 설교하고 영어 코너에서 대학생들을 섬기는 일이 잘 지속되도록.

4. 주민이가 내년 5월 졸업 후 지혜롭게 방향을 잘 선택하도록.

5. 신혼부부(주성&멀라야)가 대학을 마치고 취업을 준비하며 하나님의 영광을 위해 함께 살아가도록

6. 뉴멕시코의 주함이와 일리노이의 주영이가 직장에서 탁월하게 일하며 모든 것을 주님의 영광을 위해 하도록!

이전 J국의 선교사역

  • 아굴라와 브리스길라 선교사로서 비전은 J국에 가서 더 확실해졌습니다.  아굴라는 J국에서 언어 훈련하는 동안 교회지도자들을 훈련시켰습니다. YN, GX,GZ 지역에 있는 성경학교와 산상시골교회에서 지도자들을 말씀 훈련사역을 감당했습니다.  

  • 브리스길라는 가난하고 소외된자들을 섬겼습니다.  그녀는 언어훈련하는동안 4아이들에게 홈스쿨을 하고 긍휼사역으로 YN,GX,GZ지역에서 가난한 마을사람들에게 주님의 사랑을 전하였습니다.  또한 GX지역에서는 선생님으로 선교사 자녀들을 가르쳤습니다.   GZ지역에서는 여성 사역자들을 섬겼고 대학생 사역도 감당했습니다. 
     

아굴라/ 브리스길라  선교사

아굴라 선교사는 4대째 믿는 기독교 가정에서 태어 났습니다.  아굴라는 특별히 대학 시절에 우리 구세주에 대한 지식과 신앙이 자랐습니다.  제자훈련과 성경공부 인도 사역자로 하나님의 말씀을 사랑함과 그리스도안에 있는 형제 자매를 섬기는 방법을 배워왔습니다.  아굴라 선교사는 대학을 졸업한후 가족과 함께 미국으로 이민해 왔습니다.

​

아굴라는 제자훈련과 선교사역에 초점을 둔 남가주 사랑의 교회에서 청년부 순장으로 5년동안 섬기는 동안 주님을 위한 선교에 대한 소명을 받았습니다.

그래서 선교를 준비하며 훈련 받기 위해 풀러신학 대학원 (Fuller Theological Seminary)에서 목회학석사(M. Div.) 과정을 공부하였고 졸업 하였습니다.

한편 브리스길라 선교사는 한국에서 태어 났지만 3살 때 미국 콜로라도주에 이민 와서 자라 왔습니다.  브리스길라는 어렸을 때부터 주님을 섬기기를 원했습니다.  브리스길라의 선교에 대한 소명은 대학생활과 대학생 수련회와 여러 선교대회를 통하여 더욱 분명해져 왔습니다.  대학부 지도자들의 조언으로 선교 가기 전 캘리포니아에 있는 웨스트민스터 신학대학원 (Westminster Theological Seminary)에 신학석사(M.A.) 과정으로 공부하며 졸업을 하였습니다.

결혼후 브리스길라는 10년동안 LA에서 초등학교 선생으로 일하고 있는 반면에 아굴라는 신학교에서 계속해서 공부를 하였습니다.  두 선교사 내외는 YWAM DTS와 교회에서 여러 단기 선교사역을 계획하고 실행해 왔습니다.

아굴라/브리스길라는 선교가기전까지 이민교회 교육부 사역자로서 섬겼습니다. 
이부부는 2003년 6월에 OMF Candidate Course 통하여 선교사 임명을 받았습니다. 많은기도와 하나님의 분명한 인도하심으로 두 선교사 내외와 주함, 주영, 주성(주민이는 선교지에서 출생)이는 2005년 8월에 OMF 소속 선교사로서 J국에서 선교사역을 감당했고  2013년에는Global Partners (GP) USA에 가입하여 계속해서 주님에 몸된 지체들에게 복음을 전하며 말씀훈련을 하였습니다.
 

대만에서의 사역

아굴라와 브리스길라는 대만에 도착하자마자 국제교회에서 중문성경공부반을 인도하였습니다.  그후에 매주일 1년 동안 90Km 떨어진 작은시골교회에서 말씀을 전하였습니다. (그 시골교회는 선교사를 의존하지 말고 현지인 사역자가 교회를 이끌어야 했습니다.) 


아굴라는 계속해서 현지지도자들을 위한 사역을 할 것입니다.  지금은 선교훈련센터와 중독재활원에서 말씀을 전하고 있습니다.  소망하기는 하나님께서 아굴라를 사용하여 중독에 빠져 있는 형제들이 치유되어 하나님을 사랑하며 미래에 주님을 위해 헌신되기를 소원합니다.  아굴라는 계속해서 다른 지역을 방문해 교회지도자훈련사역을 감당할 것입니다.  


브리스길라는 92Km 떨어진 작은 분교에서 MK사역을 하고 있습니다.  하나님께서 인도하는 데로 여러 배경에 있는 사람들에게 복음을 전하고 있습니다.  가난한자와 부유한지와 학생들과 목회자와 사모님들을 사랑과 식사대접으로 섬기기를 원합니다.  아굴라와 브리스길라는 계속해서 하나님께서 저희 주변에 붙여 주신 사람들을 사랑하며 멤버케어로서 섬기기를 원합니다.  

기도의 동역자가 필요합니다

Prayer Partnership is Always Needed

Our Prayer Requests

  1. We would daily be equipped in God’s Word, prayer, and praise.

  2. Wisdom and skill to manipulate the language well so that we could continue to serve HIM.

  3. Our 3 boys to adjust to life in the US as they work or study.  

  4. Simeon to continue to grow in God’s grace. To be healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually.

  5. Many prayer partners to be raised up to pray for us diligently & fervently.

  6. Future ministry opportunities with Bible Schools & for the poor minority groups in J land.(travel back & forth)

Past Ministry 

  • Aquila and Priscilla’s vision became clearer as they moved to J land.  Aquila has been involved in training leaders.  In YN, GX, and GZ, he has been involved in teaching at Bible Schools and training minority leaders. 

  • Priscilla’s heart is more for the disadvantaged.  She had opportunities to serve through mercy ministries.  She has ministered to the poor while learning language and home schooling 4 boys.  She has taught MKs(missionary kids) for several years in GX.  She has ministered to a large sector of women and taught English to university students in GZ Province.

Aquila and Priscilla’s Background

Aquila was born into a fourth generation Christian family in Korea which is very rare.  He grew in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior all through his life but especially in college.  Involved in discipleship training and leading Bible study it helped Aquila to love the Word and love serving others.  Aquila’s family immigrated to the United States after College.

He felt the Lord’s call to missions in the United States while attending a church which had a strong focus in discipleship and missions. 
 

Aquila felt he needed more training so he enrolled in Fuller Theological Seminary as a Master of Divinity student.  He graduated from Fuller Seminary in June, 2004.
 

Priscilla was born in Korea but was raised in Colorado all her life.   She wanted to serve the Lord ever since she was little girl.  Her calling for missions became clearer as she entered university and attended college retreats and several mission conferences.  Advised by a college Pastor to go to seminary, Priscilla went to Westminster Theological Seminary and graduated with a Masters in Religious Studies with a Theological Emphasis.
 

After marriage, Priscilla worked as an elementary school teacher in Los Angeles for ten years while Aquila pursued his seminary studies.  They have been involved with many church related short-term missions as well as a DTS with YWAM.  Both Aquila and Priscilla decided that it was time to go overseas.
 

They were appointed as OMF career missionaries through OMF Candidate Course in June, 2003.  Through prayer and God’s clear direction, they had been partnering with OMF for almost 10 years and resigned.  In April of 2013, they joined Global Partners (GP) USA and have been partnering with the Universal Body of Christ to reach & train the people of south-west J since 2005.
 

Ministry in Taiwan

Aquila & Priscilla first started leading a Mandarin Bible Study at the English Fellowship when they first arrived. Later Aquila helped Pastor a small local church that was about 90 km away every Lord’s Day for about a year. (We decided that a local pastor must be found and not rely on missionaries)


Aquila will continue to train local leaders.  He has recently been involved in teaching at a M. Training Center and a Rehab Center.  Hopefully God will use Aquila so the men will be free from addiction and to love God and maybe even serve Him in the future.  Aquila will continue to travel to train church leaders from different areas when invited.

Priscilla is teaching at a small MK satellite school that is 92km away. She will continue to reach people of all different backgrounds as God leads.  She has loved the poor, the very rich, students, and pastors and missionary wives through her love and hospitality.  Priscilla & Aquila will continue to do member care and love those that God puts in their path.
